Photography Competition

A competition held by the Photography Club Malaysia. This is a good opportunity to expose yourself to other professionals in the country.

No transport is provided by the club at the moment, but if there is a considerable amount of interest, anything can be arranged.

Just in case you don't understand Malay (or too lazy to look at the banner)... ...

Venue: Taman Wawasan, Putrajaya
Registration fee: RM25 per student, RM35 for open category
Registration date: Both mornings on  16th and 17th August (7am and 8am)
Others: There is a printing session in the schedule but unclear whether it is inclusive in the reg. fee or extra charges. Food and beverages not mentioned as well. Hmmm...

Do drop a message if you're slightly interested.

Have a nice day (=

Merdeka by the Beach

Hello. I don't know if this is allowed, please do the appropriate action if it is not :D

My batch DT28 will organize our Domestic Tours soon. So we need some so-called "tourists" for the tour. All the basic details are given in the poster above. If you are interested to be our official photographer, that would be great~

EDIT: I was informed that we only need two more "tourists". The payment dateline is next week. (Uh oh... my bad..) First come first serve!

The Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya organized a photography competition themed Shopping spree/ Pelancongan Membeli-Belah, Education/ Pelancongan Pendidikan and Health/ Pelancongan Kesihatan.

The competition ends 30th June 2008

There is a form to be filled for those who are interested to participate in the competition. Unfortunately, TPC did not receive the form. We strongly urge members who are interested to inquire at the Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) department.

The participation in the competition is low with a grand prize of four digits. For more information you may contact Pn. Nur Hazrina or Miss Seti Fatimah at 03-79560203. Do note that TPC do not play a role in this competition and is just promoting the event for our members.

Group picture (edited)

Apparently our dear president thought the group picture for the Ipoh trip was a little harsh and the people in the shade were too dark, so I did a little tinkering.
If you think it's too dark, adjust it yourself..

Click for the full-sized one.

I know it's not really good, but I was sleepy and by the time i finished trimming Joseph and Ching Teng's pants I really couldn't be bothered to do anymore. And Li Qun and Aaron, try not to stand in the shade and look so darned dark next time :)

Colour Tutorial

Tutorial by: Anna

STEP 1:
Select the desired picture. Crop or resize or adjust the brightness etc it if you must. My base for this post is a gorgeous shot by Itaelly ;D

STEP 2:
Duplicate your base and set it to Screen at 55%.

STEP 3:
Add a Hue/Saturation layer. G
o to Layer-->New Adjustment Layer-->Hue/Saturation. Then adjust the numbers. For this picture, I use… (click the picture)

STEP 4:
Ok, now is the confusing part. To change the colours without destroying the picture, I use the Selective Colours layer. Access this by g
oing to Layer-->New Adjustment Layer--> Selective Colours.

Sometimes when editing colours, maybe the objects, for example the cloud will turn yellowish or... odd. By using Selective Colours, you can "select" n adjust colours - maybe change the colour of flowers, clothes etc. But you need practice ;D

I upload a picture to show u how does the selective colour looks like in adobe photoshop. If u click the picture below, u can see how I change the percentage for each colour. Normally I’ll experiment a few times until I found the desired combination.

STEP 5:
I add a second Selective Colour layer but I use different combination to make the colours stand out a bit. (Sorry I didn’t upload the percentage. Too lazy hehhehheh XD)

STEP 6:
Yes, the final step. Duplicate the original picture and arrange it at the top layer. Desaturate it, change the Blending Mode to “Overlay” and adjust the “Opacity” to 25%. Waaalah~! XD Remember that different picture needs different colour combination – or, it depends on your creativity or whatsoever.

ORIGINAL PICTURE

.....AND FINALLY TO THIS!

Normally I'll edit the colours for designing purposes, etc. I must say that original picture is the best for photography. oh, do comment!
